NEWS RELEASE FROM THE BOARD OF EDUCATION
FEBRUARY 12, 2018 REGULAR MEETING
FOR THE SKYLINE STAFF AND PATRONS

The Skyline Board of Education met in regular session Monday, February 12, 2018. Routine business included approval of minutes, payment of bills, Treasurer’s Report, and the SCKSEC minutes.

The first item of business was the Superintendent’s report from Becca Flowers. Her report included a Legislative Update.  She also reported on KESA/REDESIGN and upcoming visits by the Outside Validation Team and Education Commissioner Randy Watson. We will continue with updates to the vehicle fleet and have our KSDE Audit starting Monday, February 19, 2018.

Becca Flowers and Herb McPherson reported on their buildings’ activities.  There was no update on the Health Insurance Research Committee, KASB met with members of our staff and are currently researching our options.

The Board also heard plans for Summer School 2018 and information from the Facilities Meeting including refinishing of the big gym floor, and reconfiguring of classrooms and the library for the 2018-19 school year.

The Board approved District Policy BCCK concerning new open meeting laws.  They also approved the 2018-19 School Calendar.

The Board approved the resignation of Rhonda Tinnan Kreslake as a Food Service Worker; Chris Sanders as Middle School Assistant Football Coach; Darci Poland and Kathryn McAllister as High School Pep Club Sponsors; Heike Beeson as Middle School Language Arts and Social Studies Teacher; and Andrew Ramirez as Middle School and High School Language Arts and Foreign Language Teacher.  They then approved the following contracts: Andrew Nation as Middle School and High School Head Track Coach, Morgan Ballard as High School Assistant Track Coach, Bob Lee as High School Assistant Track Coach, Lori Anschutz as Middle School Assistant Track Coach and Chris Sanders as Middle School Assistant Track Coach.  They also approved a contract with Bill Brennan as a Food Service Worker.

The next meeting will be Monday, March 12, 2018 at 7:30 p.m.
